Creative Setups and Community Builds

How the VOLTRA I community is pushing the limits of what a single device can do, and how to get involved.

The community is building

VOLTRA I was designed to be mounted, moved, and re-mounted. That flexibility has created something Beyond Power didn't fully anticipate: a community of builders, tinkerers, and home gym owners who are constantly finding new ways to use the device. Some of these builds have gone viral. Some have turned into actual products. All of them are worth paying attention to if you're trying to get the most out of your setup.

Beyond Power actively supports this. The DIY Dock was co-designed with community members DarkoLifting and Dr_TattyWaffles. The Darko QuickMount Bracket came directly from the community. The Your Mount, Your Rules page on the Beyond Power website showcases user-submitted builds and setups.

The DIY Dock

The DIY Dock is a stainless steel mounting plate with a secure locking mechanism designed for custom installations. It's the mount you choose when none of the standard options fit what you're trying to do.

Common DIY Dock applications include:

  • Wall mounting in garages or basements where there's no rack

  • Custom-built wooden platforms and training rigs

  • Plyo box integration for portable floor-level setups

  • Concrete wall anchoring for permanent high-traffic installations

  • Custom pull-up station builds where the dock provides the cable resistance station

The DIY Dock with Base Plate adds a mounting surface if your build doesn't already have one. Both versions use the same secure locking system as Beyond Power's official mounts — the device clicks in and doesn't move during training.

The Darko QuickMount Bracket

Designed by Dr_TattyWaffles and manufactured by Darko Lifting, the QuickMount is a 1/4-inch steel bracket with 3D-printed plastic lining that drops into standard rack holes. It's become one of the most popular third-party accessories because it solves a specific problem: fast repositioning.

With a Sliding Rack Mount, you loosen, slide, and retighten. With the QuickMount, you just pull the bracket out, move it to a different hole, and drop VOLTRA I back in. For people who change mount height multiple times per session — going from high cable pulldowns to low cable rows, for example — the time savings add up.

Available in versions for both 1-inch and 5/8-inch rack hole sizes. Check your rack's hole diameter before ordering.

The viral trolley setup

Brody Lang from Lang Athletics put together a trolley-based system that lets VOLTRA I slide along a track, creating a functional trainer-style setup from a single device. The video went viral in the home gym community for a good reason: it demonstrated that with some hardware and creativity, VOLTRA I can replicate equipment that costs thousands of dollars more.

This is not an official Beyond Power product or endorsed build, but it illustrates the kind of innovation happening in the community. If you're handy with metalwork or have a local fabricator, the possibilities are genuinely open.

Outdoor and unconventional setups

The Strap Mount opens up training locations that don't have a rack or wall. Community members have mounted VOLTRA I on:

  • Trees (the palm tree setup from Daniel Day is a classic)

  • Park fitness equipment and outdoor pull-up bars

  • Garage door beams and ceiling joists

  • Vehicle tow hitches for roadside or campsite training

  • Fence posts and garden structures

As long as the structure is solid and the strap is secure, VOLTRA I's 19 lb weight and battery power make it genuinely portable. There's no power cable to worry about.

Sharing your build

Beyond Power features community builds on their website and social channels. If you've built something worth showing off — or you've solved a mounting problem in a way no one else has thought of — share it. Tag Beyond Power on social media or submit through the Your Mount, Your Rules page. The DIY Dock and Darko QuickMount both started as community ideas.
