VOLTRA I for Performance Coaches
How VOLTRA I fits into a high-performance training environment and what it offers that your existing equipment doesn't.
Where it fits in your facility
VOLTRA I is not a replacement for barbells, platforms, or sleds. It's an addition that fills specific gaps in a performance program β gaps that typically require expensive, dedicated machines or manual workarounds that don't scale well across a roster.
The core value for performance coaches comes down to three capabilities:
Programmable resistance modes that deliver eccentric overload, isokinetic speed control, velocity-dependent loading, and isometric testing from a single portable device.
Real-time data output (force, velocity, power, ROM) that's captured automatically per rep and exportable as CSV.
Portability. At 19 lbs with battery power, it goes where training happens β weight room, field, court, travel.
Practical advantages over traditional cable systems
Performance facilities already have cable stacks. Here's what VOLTRA I does differently:
1 lb increments across 5-200 lbs. When you're prescribing specific loads for rehab progressions or auto-regulated training, the resolution matters. Weight stacks jump 10-15 lbs. VOLTRA I doesn't.
No momentum or inertia artefacts. The direct drive motor delivers constant tension with no lag, overshoot, or slack. Every inch of every rep is loaded.
Mode switching takes seconds. An athlete can go from a strength test (Isometric) to a rehab protocol (Isokinetic) to a power exercise (Damper) in the same session without changing equipment.
Sport Mode unlocks the full 200 lb range and maximum cable speed. Enable in Settings > Advanced. The factory default caps at 100 lbs for safety.
Data integration
Session data exports via the Beyond+ app as CSV files. Each session log includes per-rep data: peak force, average force, peak velocity, average velocity, peak power, range of motion, and rep duration. This data can be imported into athlete monitoring systems (e.g., Smartabase, Catapult, custom spreadsheets) or used directly for session-to-session comparisons.
For coaches managing multiple athletes, establish a consistent naming/tagging convention in your records alongside session timestamps from the Beyond+ app. The device itself doesn't store athlete profiles, so the cross-reference needs to happen in your own system.
Deployment considerations
Mount options for performance settings include the Sliding Rack Mount, Strap Mount (wraps around rig posts or outdoor structures), and Travel Platform (floor-based work, particularly useful for field and court sessions).
Battery life supports a full training day on a single charge. Keep a USB-C charger in the facility for overnight charging between training days.
Multiple VOLTRA I units can be deployed simultaneously. Each unit operates independently β there's no Bluetooth interference between devices.
For multi-coach environments, standardise your mode settings and testing protocols so data is comparable across staff members.
